Synonyme: Duvalia procumbens R.A.Dyer, Ceropegia procumbentior Bruyns
Trieb: H. procumbens wächst dicht am Boden kriechend (teils auch unterirdisch) und ist oft auch von Felswänden herabhängend zu beobachten. Die reptilienartig gewundenen Triebe sind 7 bis 15 mm stark und können bis zu 30 cm lang werden. Die kleinen rudimentären Blätter trocknen schnell ein und bleiben oft noch als weiße „Spitzen“ erhalten.
Blüten:
Die Blüten erscheinen einzeln oder zu zweit an der Basis der jungen Triebe. die fünfzipfelige Blumenkrone hat einen Durchmesser von 4 bis 5,5 cm und besitzt einen erhabenen kastanienbraunen, kahlen (manchmal auch runzeligen) Annulus und schlanke, spitze, creme- bis kittfarbene Kronlappen.
Wissenswertes: H. procumbens wird von Leach zu Huernia gestellt, weil die Corona nicht gegliedert ist, die Stängelzähne (rudimentäre Blätter) an der Basis keine Zähnchen aufweisen und die Kronlappen weder repliziert noch bewimpert sind.
Verbreitung: Huernia procumbens kommt auf beiden Seiten des Limpopo-Flusses südöstlich von Messina bis Pafuri in Simbabwe und in der Nordprovinz Südafrikas (Transvaal) vor und ist auch in Mosambik zu finden.
Diese Art wächst in trockenen Wäldern, die oft von Androstachys johnstonii dominiert werden, wo sie immer wieder an Felsblöcken hängt.
